Altar Workshop and Temporary Home for Divorced Japanese Women

The project explores how Japanese women often are left in a liminal position, both losing home and personal belongings, when divorcing. A new typology is proposed where these women can re-create their history and future through the making of the altar. The altar which in Japanese culture manifest the family and where personal objects are placed within to treasure. The model is a 1:1 interpretation of the building within the scale of the altar.
