Specimen is an arctic paradox, combining the excitement of open air boreal forest camping under the swirling Northern Lights with all the comforts and curiosities associated with a boutique hotel and astronomical research facility.

Critical to maintaining open access to the exterior while balancing guests’ thermal comfort needs is a system of on demand radiant heaters, so-called infrared columns. These infrared columns, reminiscent of silver birch trees native to the boreal forest, provide a network of even heat and visual wonder.
